We Are All Outsiders play SUMMER IN THE CITY 2012 fri 24th aug @ NORTHERN MEETING PARK inverness
Way up North there’s something special going on, something to shake preconceptions and set out a glorious statement of intent. From Inverness, come the aptly named Outsiders spearheading a burgeoning musical scene in the UK’s most northerly city.
The four-piece Rock band consists of Iain Mclaughlin – Vocals/ Gtr, Paul Elliott – Gtr, Dave Ramsay – Bass and Russell Montgomery – Drums/Percussion.
With influences ranging across the board from great singer/songwriters like Neil Young and Ryan Adams, the timeless Rock n’ Roll of Led Zeppelin, the grittier edge of Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails to the Pop sensibilities of Travis (to name a mere handful) the sound of The Outsiders is difficult to define. Built around the honest, no nonsense song-writing style of singer/songwriter front-man Mclaughlin, the band take their music to a stratospheric almost glacial new level that unashamedly combines layer upon layer of sound and catchy melodies with something darker, something dirtier. A sound that grows dynamically during every song of every set and always at its core whether it be part of a raise the rafters chorus or an all out sonic assault, features a sense of unabashed honesty and realism. It’s a sound that also draws on the big skies and wide horizons of the North of Scotland, music that could only come from where it was made and above all defines them as not only as a group, but collectively, as individuals.
